Pioneer 1000 Recall Overview

Honda has announced a massive recall of their Pioneer 1000 utility vehicles because an incorrectly installed throttle body poses a fire and burn hazard. The recall involves all model year 2016 and 2017 vehicles, as well as some 2018 vehicles. The three passenger and five passenger models are included in this action. Owners should stop using the recalled vehicles immediately and contact their local Honda Powersports dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair. No injuries have been reported related to this recall.

This is a very large recall. Earlier this year Honda issued a recall for most of these same vehicles because of a muffler issue. SVR tracks ongoing vehicle recalls for UTVs, golf cars and LSVs.

  1. in the middle of purchasing a new 2018 Honda Pioneer 1000 5 Deluxe,
was wondering if they have a timeline on when the problem will be corrected ?

    • You should try contacting your local Honda dealer or contact Honda Powersports customer service toll free (866) 784-1870.

  2. I have a 2016 Pioneer 1000 , and according to my local Honda dealer, if you have remedied the 2 recalls, those being the heat shield issue, and the replacement of the throttle “ gas pedal ect” body issue, then you should be ok.

  3. I bought a 2020 Honda Pioneer 1000-5 deluxe at the end of 2019. I will never buy another Honda again!! I have had Honda my entire life and i’m 41 years old. My Honda Pioneer caught fire in the same location as the ones that were recalled and almost burnt my house down but Honda will not replace my unit. I have stood by Honda but not anymore!! They have obviously not corrected this potential death trap and I strongly recommend EVERYONE buyers beware. I threatened attorneys but they know that no attorney will pick up the case unless you have personal injuries sustaining 80% of your body. They will want you to file on insurance but in my case insurance wouldn’t pick it up. If you are thinking of buying a good side by side I would look elsewhere.
